Questions

Sometimes I stop and think
What if?
What if the world was seen through rose tinted glass?
What if clouds were just large sheep tending blue grass?
What if we saw nothing but the people behind the mask?

The people would be beautiful
The air would smell of love
The feel of skin on skin would be electric
Tastes would be longing and jealous
And we’d only hear those sweet soft spoken words

Then the wind would be dogs leading the way to farm
Weather would be the clothes on our back
The sun the lazy farmer at the end of everyday
And the lone stars waiting for prey

We wouldn’t need laws to keep people together
Ink on skin would only be permanent accessories like the rings on your ears
Innocent played naivety would be a sheep’s skin
The thief would only be a thief
The father only a father
Nothing more but players and a role
And there were no pretenders

But we don’t see in luscious pinks and feel the panging of our hearts
The clouds don’t go baa with a lazy farmer
And every one isn’t part of the law, just the judge and the jury

But I can only say if and pretend
Pretend the world is forever gorgeous and the people kind
When that is nothing but a broken dream
The world is only beautiful in frames and people are only actors
