The storm

I watched the rain fall,
I heard the thunder strike.
I saw the lighting crawl,
I felt the wind howl with all its might.

A maelstorm of autumn leaves,
Swaying through the early morning sky,
Interlining branches that nature weaves,
Rusting in a timeless sigh.

There we stood
Together, under the trees
Silently in the wood,
Hearing nature do as she please.

All we were doing was waiting,
Watching, hearing, seeing,
The world that was crying,
The world that was healing.
