Jump

She could hear her breathing as she ran,
wind rushing in her face as if a fan.
The forest so easily put behind her,
She was joyful, nothing could bind her.

The cliff was so far away, yet so close.
In its river she wants to be engrosed.
Her heartbeat thumping in her ears,
She overcame all of her fears.

Buh, bum. Buh, bum.

She smiled. The edge she was nearing,
No longer scared, no longer fearing.
One step, two step, three. . .
All she wanted was to be free.

She flung herself off the edge in a graceful arch.
The ship to the afterlife she would embark.
She sighed in content,
Her sadness she now resents.

Buh, bum. Buh, bum.

Embeded in the icy water, she realized
to the hands of God she was demised.
But something stuck with her as she listened to the last beats of her heart.

It wasn't the fall that was truly exhilerating.
It wasn't the landing that was the best.
It was the jump.
