I Confessed My Love for Him

I confessed my love for him last night
As his words of admiration rung inside.
With honest eyes & his hand on my cheek,
He promised to always love me.

I told him to always tell me the truth,
And to tell me if his love ever fell through.
He refused to look away as tears stained my eyes,
And he said only death could tear him from my side.

If only he could have seen
The way my heart skipped a beat.
Never would I think I'd have
A person to love me, & to call, "My man."
