If It Wasn't for You

I saw you turn away,
the last time you smiled,
a piece of myself,
a shy, senseless child.

Trapped all alone,
I knew I was wrong,
a curse called pride,
I’d never been strong.

No beating heart,
No place called home,
I’d never have admitted,
That I’m all alone.

Slipping away,
I said it was true,
I would never have thought,
I’d lose someone like you.

I knew it was useless,
but I couldn’t give in,
I begged the angels in heaven,
but I’d seen my own sin.

Watching you go,
I cry and I plea,
For if it wasn’t for you,
I wouldn’t be me.
