Reflection

I'm the flowers on the roadside, the chocolates in a box
The cracks in a sidewalk, the reflection in a mirror
Seeing these things makes us think,
'Why are we here?' 'What are we to do in life?'
Cut down the flowers when the get too tall?
Throw away the chocolates because they're not right?
Fill the cracks with non-cement items?
Or what about our reflection?
No matter what we do, We can't truly change who we are.
We can change the way people look at us
Cut our hair, wear make-up, get contacts
And pierce ourselves, but no matter what,
We're still the same as the day before
And the days to come. So why do we try?
Why do we care? Its because of society picking
Us from our normal selves
And placing us in groups of people where we don't belong.
We may look alike, and act alike
But that is only skin deep.
Our true selves won't change no matter how hard we try
So let us all learn how to hide our most inner selves
Or we can just break anything showing our reflection
So we don't have to see what society has made of us.
