Fight For Love

It happens every night,
There's no breaking the cycle,
Kids being kids,
Playing in the yard,
Until that car pulls up,
And they try to be cheerful,
But nothing's good enough to please,
Who's getting out the driver's side door,
She pushes away their cheerful thoughts,
And focuses only on the negatives,
So the children's voices are cut off,
Over the yelling of another,
And one little girl sits in the corner,
Hating watching the others get yelled at,
Hating the tears in their eyes,
The tears in the older woman's voice,
And she harbors a secret,
That she is terrified of telling the woman yelling,
For fear of that dissipointed look,
Those disaproving eyes,
That make her feel small,
That make her cry like the others,
She has to fight for that love,
That she'll never get,
All she wants is a compliment,
A caring look every now and then,
A hug or even a pat on the back,
But she'll never get that again,
Because of this horrible disappointment,
It will bring to the woman yelling,
The only way to stop that accusing look,
Is to leave forever,
And now she wonders if the woman would ever miss her,
Or if she'd even notice...
