War.

The sounds of machine gun death pierce through my ears,
Wounding my senses, and I realize that I'm not alone.
I hear my comrades scream in agony as death waves at them.
A hello, for an eternal sleep.

Pungent death escaldes through the air.
Stench of mud, earth soaked in blood.
My mouth tastes of iron, dry horror of war!
It's a severed reality.

My comrade next to me awakes with panic attacks.
I'm useless, when he's clutches his skin, bleeding terror.
He thrashes around like violent storm as the other men try to control him.
Don't show the enemy your weakness, Johnny!

The horrors plague my eyes when they shut.
I see them all being masacred and I'm in hysteria.
The truth of knowing that I'll die keeps me awake.
Combat shock reigns and I'm joining my comrade.
