The Five Great Lakes Are Not Enough

I need to go to the sea- the ocean.
feel it swell up around me,
carry me away.
swallow me in running waves, thick with
power and promise, promising to
shield me, eat me, engulf me.
make me feel safe, if only for a second,
when I'm out of control.
then lets me breathe, sucking out, before
another deep breath suffocates me again.
but I'll never be lost, because
the ocean will always find me, will always
surround me. I need to feel its
welcoming, cool arms around me again.
