Where the Sun Doesn't Shine
This is one of my entries in this poetry contest.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Where the sun doesn't shine, nightmares dwell
Everything you run from thrives very well
A blanket folding over you, casting a cruel spell
You close your eyes and pretend it isn't real
But the next thing you remember, you fell
When you're in the dark
With the blinds drawn
No light of illumination
No clear judgment or thought
It's only a crime if you ever get caught
But the darkness, it mocks
And you're at a loss
The pitchfork's at your throat
Your eyes glued to the wall
And all you can see is a silhouette
Of the gruesome picture you've drawn
