Reoccuring

This is one of my entries in this poetry contest.

-----------------------------------------------
Unwelcomed awakening to another day's start
Something must have happened because I can hear the alarm
All of the crawling and all of the harm
Figuring out how to extinguish where it's from
This disastrous effect from this unworthy cause

Tell me, does anything prevent the fall?
Reaching around, but there are no walls
Once again, uncover these scars
Not only that, but go as far
As to reopen wounds and pour in the salt
In this predictable web, I am caught

This mocking despair and all this mistrust
From losing control, I am on the cusp
All I can see are ashes untouched
From the great, roaring fire that burned once
Waiting for a stir in the dust
To be ready to move and get back up

The sudden breaks that cannot be avoided
The overwhelming feeling that cannot be ignored
The determination possessed at the core
Must be brought out with some entrancing lure
To combat these pieces and everything torn

Living in a veil of desperation and sorrow
Looking ahead and fearing tomorrow
Inside is the passion that I follow
The danger ahead is more than shallow
Because waters run deep and emotions moreso

The swelling of this muscle, circulating blood
Has gone on overdrive, creating a flood
This undying process, unable to stop
This will go on... and I'll fight 'till the last drop
