Ignorance.

Do you ever feel like nobody cares,
that these lonely people are just unaware,
of the pain you feel, day and night,
that face you wake up to, what a sight.
Cheery faces passing by,
all you see is smiles, but perhaps it's a lie.
That crippled old man that lives on the street,
begging for food in the frost and the heat,
he died today, but did you know?
You were too wrapped up in your own selfish glow.
The single mother in apartment number 6,
the one with five children and a yard full of sticks,
her husband left her with no money to her name,
and as she struggles on the subway, you say," Oh, it's a shame."
You're co-worker Dave, the one with red hair,
has a terrible life, but you're unaware.
When he arrives home from work tonight,
he'll take a gun to his head, he's given up the fight.
You'll walk to work the next day, notice he isn't there,
and perhaps that's all you'll think of your pal Dave with red hair.
So before you complain about your own stupid life,
think about the abused teen who takes to her wrist, a knife.
Do you ever feel like nobody cares,
That these lonely people are just unaware,
Well, when you do, think of someone else too.
cause they could be in more pain then you.
