A Quiet War

Your silence says it all, harsh truth your eyes. Quickly we approach the end, Relieved as we say our goodbyes. Where did we go wrong? Somewhere there was a fork. You chose the path streamed with lights, I crashed, blinded by the dark. A quiet war we wage, Our clips are empty, our rifles aimed. The gun clicks as we pull the trigger, We yell fire, but no ones maimed. There is no cure for this cancer, But what was there has already died. Left a broken piece of the picture, We couldn't paint it if we tried. So why hide behind a smile? Let's pretend we don't exist. Someday we'll forget this feeling, Gladly forgotten if you insist. You're almost to the finish line, My race is a little longer. In the end we'll both be fine, I'll just have to finish stronger.
