Pursuit of Truth

“What is the truth?” I asked Heaven.
An angel descended and told me, “Faith is the truth.”
“With faith we can twist you into what we need.”
“With faith we can tell you anything we want.”
And as the angel continued to talk I realized it didn’t have the answer.

So onward I continued, seeking the true answer to my question.

“What is the truth?” I asked Hell.
A demon crawled from the bowls of Hades and told me, “Who needs truth?”
“Turn away from the truth, we can do whatever we want.”
“Turn away from the truth, and when you die, I can have your soul.”
And as the demon continued to talk I realized it didn’t have the answer.

So onward I continued, seeking the true answer to my question.

“What is the truth?” I asked society.
And they answered back but I couldn’t understand everything they said.
The answers I was given were varied and twisted one way or another.
Everyone thought it was something different than the last person.
And as they continued to talk I realized they didn’t have the answer.

So onward I continued, seeking the true answer to my question.

“What is the truth?” I asked myself.
And I saw my reflection and it spoke to me, “The truth is inside.”
“One must always seek the truth for themselves.”
“The truth is what is, and neither wishes nor perception can change that.”
I realized this was the answer that I sought.

So I rested easy, knowing the answer to my question.
