Icy Hearts

Thinkin' of the girl I adore,
I realize I happen to be falling for you
Where did my mind go?
When I took a walk down to the store

She had just been asleep
But woke to the radio because of the songs beat
She had been thinking of that special boy
A smile that he just made her miss more

Walkin` through the snow,
Hat and gloves are keepin' me warm
Remembering her with each step of time
I pull the handle and open up more of my mind

She showered and dressed in the morning
Sweater and ear muffs are the latest fashion in town
But what she loved about the guy she liked,
It was that he was in a whole new realm

My style may be a bit out of tact,
But bein' proud of myself is what I do best
Grabbing her favorite piece of jewelry,
I pay with money I earned last February

She dances all the way into town
Mind filled with things she never thought she felt
Only to take a step and turn,
Bumping into the one she never meant to hurt

My heart beat fast when I left that place fast,
Only to hear the whispers of her,
Crashing into my body,
I noticed how she stepped back so frantically

She looked behind the one in front of her,
Staring directly inside the store
Frosty eyes directed at her from the one she adored,
Merely waving to the other boy that just walked out of the door

Behind me was the guy she liked,
What a shame but I smiled anyways
On the name tag "Anonymous" was framed,
For the gift she'd receive in days

She hugged him as the other guy kept her warm,
No longer focusing on the boy who started walkin' some more
Though when she bumped into that guy,
She couldn't help but notice the necklace she had wanted before

I smiled all the way home,
Remember the words I wanted to say to her,
"I love you, and I'll miss you just like before"
I muttered as snow fell onto my coat
