Someone, anyone.

The dangerously still water shivers,
an effect that barely ever took place.
The secret wind brushes past,
an occasion so rare it's existence is to be questioned.
Out in the darkness a cloud is the blinding light,
floating in contrast to the gloom.

I peer over the edge of a mud covered ground.
The water is deeper than the tunnel in my mind that never seems to end.
I see a face that doesn't ring a bell,
but it looks me in the eye,
reassuring it's presence.
Creases around what would've been a smile,
draw a line that faintly shows.
The face looks back,
not sure of what to feel.
The eyes are a deep brown,
but oh, it goes so much further than that.
Emptiness is what you'd get if you took a moment to see.

She longs for a hand that would pick her up,
that would draw a curtain over her rays of despair.
She wishes for nothing more than protecting arms,
or at least a smile that would show loneliness isn't a word in her book.
She wants someone to pull her away,
away from the never-ending waters that call her name.
Away from the ground that holds her in place,
reminding her of the frightening path she's crossed.
She needs to memorize eyes that carry the truth.
She screams for attention that will never belong to her,
never be given,
never be spoken of.

But she's falling, and no one's come to help her out of this nightmare.
She can't get up, but no one can see.
No one hears her pleading voice.
She fears there will never be someone, anyone to hold her.
She fears lady loneliness with take her by the hand,
be her only companion.
She fears she'll never be heard,
never be understood.

The tears that run dry were nothing but a set up,
she feels the warmth pour out of her eyes, down her lifeless face.
They drip into the dark waters,
creating a ripple that lasted no longer than a moment.
Her fingers run through the strangers face because that's all it'll ever be.
No one would ever see past the vacant eyes,
no one would care enough to dig past the pain.
