Sing Me a Song

Joyful notes ring through the hills,
the happy couples laugh as merry bands play for bills.
No thought to those at the edges of the crowd tonight,
shrouded in darkness, seeking warmth and light.
Drink brings them no numbness, nor food fulfilment,
happiness is a foriegn word, and shelter but a place.

These broken people hold their silence,
there is no need to tell those who may enjoy their innocence.
When the blessed are reminded of the wanting,
a few shed tears, a ten dollar note here and there,
but above all the need to be told nothing is wrong
Despite finding the reality, they prefer keeping their sanity,
and dismiss the truth in front of them.

Singing of christmas, wishing for wealth,
dreaming of love, hoping for peace.
The satisfied wanting more,
the famous crushing dreams,
the players destroying hearts.
War wages an all frontiers, people cover their ears.
the knowing withdraw their story,
remembering our insistence of humanity's glory.

Watch us fight for that which is stolen,
let us cry for pitiful love stories that were destined to end,
rage against those who have done no wrong,
tear down the ones who could be our saviors,
threaten people who try to save our world,
torture the only truth see-ers of our race.

Remember this as you celebrate the season,
those you have done wrong for no apparent reason.
