A World In Flames Through Rosy Frames

Some people think the world has gone up in flames
And I see something different through my rosy frames
But maybe the world is as bad as it seems
Nothing but a trash bin of broken-hearted dreams
Do the rivers flood with the tears of the young?
Are screams of their mothers the only song sung?
It seems that the world is on its way down
Nothing but a mindless hunt for the king’s crown
No one is a winner; in the end we all lose
And those with “power” are the ones who chose
Today your mother, tomorrow your father
Don’t start with the protests; don’t even bother
‘Cause when we’re done, you won’t even care
‘Cause in the end, you wouldn’t even dare
Citizen is just another word for victim
The American dream is just another symptom
Killing the innocent thousands at a time
Just so the rich can have one more dime
And just so the man with the iron fist
Can cross another nation of his hit list
Can plow the trees with the modern slave
And doom us all to the ultimate grave
Burying us in industrial steel cases
And tearing away hundreds of millions of faces
They try to play God, and we look and stare
As they burn down humanity without a care
Watch the flames lick the skies
Matched only by the mountains of lies
Feel the rain; the tears from above
As the last of us hold on to love
As we drown in a sea of blind hate
And the last light of hope begins to dissipate
But then…a hand, from nowhere, appears
And wipes away the ocean of tears
And grasps the believers, the dreamers, the lovers
The children, their parents, their parents, and others
And those with faith will be proven right
And those who waited all through the night
Will feel the warmth and see the sun
Will feel safe and never again have to run
And there will, finally, be equal rights
No more wars and no more fights
They will sing songs of the brave and the bold
And the air will be full of the laughs of the young and old
Now a place of fulfilled dreams
The world isn’t as bad as it seems
At least, that’s what I see through my rosy frames
But is it because I can’t see a world up in flames?
