My Last Goodbye

Now as the sun rises,
I'm standing once again,
On these forgotten shores,
Last night I cried,
Lost in my tears,
Gripped by all,
My worldly fears.

Looking back,
Remembering when,
We were never afraid to dream,
Never afraid to lose,
And never afraid to be,
Who we wanted to be.

How we ran in fear,
And searched in vain,
But now our lives,
All to distant,
Are scattered over continents.
And our deeds,
All to clear,
Are blazoned across the skies.
Hero’s to the world.
Fallen angels.

We pray,
That our memories of today,
Will get us through tomorrow…

We did not exaggerate our injustice,
Nor feign our affection,
In a world so small,
We felt so far apart.

So I'll go,
And leave you standing,
In the pouring rain,
While walking away,
Trying to forget the pain.

And as the curtain falls,
We bow so gracefully,
Exiting left,
Always left,
Left behind…
