Lost in this city.

In the depth of the city pollution,
she is ignorant of her true emotions.
She walks bare feet down cement paths,
clueless of whats going on in her head.
The sound of her voice chattering away,
goes unheard with the sound of traffic leading the way.

A cold wind brushes past,
making her scarcely covered body shiver and sway.
She doesn't here the voices in her mind begging her to stay.
She pushes it all behind,
having made her decision the night before.

This girl, she seems to be fine,
but what the eyes of the strangers can't see is what's eating her alive.
The numbness refuses to leave,
it spreads through her like a deadly disease.
Slowly it drains the feelings she hides,
leaving her apathetic,
walking to her grave tonight.
The eyes of the strangers cannot see,
The screaming girl,
in need of an escape, wanting to be free.

She climbs up what seems to be a never-ending staircase,
not once stopping to consider this place.
A building, that's what it is,
and when she reaches the top,
the air touches her skin with a kiss.

Not even such heights give her the adrenaline she needs,
the world before her doesn't once stop to watch her bleed.
A step off the edge will give her all that she needs to feel,
A step off the edge will remind her that she's real.

Without so much as a goodbye,
she's pulled down by gravity.
Without so much as a goodbye,
in a crowd of unknown faces she lies.

It's what she's wanted all along, this girl that no one knows.
It's what she got, if only for a moment,
the feelings she called, they're spread across the floor.
