Finding Happiness

The midnight air cools my breath
Pale skin against a winter backdrop
Silver flakes gleam
From kind moonlight
I shiver

Naked feet sink
Into familiar snow
Bleeding cuts from frozen skin
Trembling lips
I stumble forward

I fall

Tears freeze to my cheeks
My voice reaches deaf ears
Green eyes shut tight

Sudden warmth
Strange relief
A hand on my face
A calm voice
Open my eyes
See the face of Happiness

Happiness has piercing brown eyes
and long black hair
A loving gaze

He is Happiness
I am Depression
He is fire
I am ice

Happiness holds me
He is warm against my frigid skin
He need only stare into my eyes
And I know happiness
