A Long, Long Drive

It's a long, long drive
Away from a friend
And into that city of clones.
Their love wasted
Till the end
On a primitive idea of old.

It's a long, long drive,
And it can't end too soon,
Though I wish it had never begun.
Suffocating boredom.
A white crescent moon
Leaves me friendless with nowhere to run.

It's a long, long drive,
But I guess this is life.
Unhappy with moments of fun.
Love it well,
Like a husband or wife.
Then burn up in the morning sun.
