The Five Stages Of Unrequited Love; 1. Denial

He cannot love her. It must be a lie.
The rumour abounds, but I shall not cry.
I shall close my ears, and hope he sees sense,
What is alluring to his arrogance? -
Surely not a simpering, manic smile?
Surely not her with a saccharine style?
Surely not an android devoid of thought?
Surely not queen of the devious sort?
I shall ignore her sugary ensnares,
I suffer, make believe I do not care,
Pretend there is not the glint in his eyes,
My fantasy is a tangle of lies,
My guard is lowered. I cannot pretend.
For her cooing to him greatly offends.
