I Know A Girl
I know a girl,
She shines bright like the stars,
Adding bits of joy to our lives,
We didn't know her dad hit the bars,
Then cam at her with hands sharp like knives.
I know a girl,
At school she's always all smiles,
Because you can't see the blue and the black,
When she's at home she's facedown on the tiles,
Enduring another attack.
I know a girl,
Who pretends nothing's wrong,
As she gets farther and farther away,
Thinking she's being strong,
Just making it day to day.
I know a girl,
She's the ghost on the wall,
Thinks we're blind but we can see,
Powerless to help as we watch her fall,
Face first into dirt and debris.
I knew a girl,
She always tried to do right,
Now she lays herself downt to sleep,
In the end she couldn't win the fight,
Maybe now her father will weep.
She shines bright like the stars,
Adding bits of joy to our lives,
We didn't know her dad hit the bars,
Then cam at her with hands sharp like knives.
I know a girl,
At school she's always all smiles,
Because you can't see the blue and the black,
