He was Wrong
He was Wrong
She sat on the couch with her mom.
The silence ceased with three pounds on the door and screams.
Mom went outside and talked to the man the little girl called 'Dad'.
She sit crying,
No one cares how this effects her,
How it tears her apart inside for them to hate so much,
No one cares about that.
Her brother came out and put his arm around her.
She continued to listen to the screaming, the police intervening,
“Everything will be alright,” he whispered.
He said the same thing every time this happened,
But it was never alright,
And she was beginning to believe that statement false.
And it was.
And for once – he was wrong.
