Old World Rules

Dotted lines and dashed
These laws, rules, words of the past
Made for prosperity to hear
Written so many years ago
For people of that time to follow
Written black and white, crystal clear
Why can’t we have the rules of old
Always doing what we’re told
But then again they inspire fear
Yet change will come again
Either a family or a friend
Time will pass another year
Old world rules don’t stay
Change has come, I’m not afraid
The ones I love are still held dear
I’d rather follow those old world laws
So when I’d stop and think I’d pause
And know everything wasn’t so queer
As this modern age
Indeed it’s strange
But I’ll hold my cheer.
