Tree
Waking up to the sun as the wind rustles her hair
She stretches her limbs to the open air
Each line on her skin is a story to tell
A faint trace of a heart, four initials as well
She stands tall and strong with her feet rooted down
Her arms shelter the children as they climb from the ground
As the autumn approaches her leaves start to fall
She shivers in cold, but she still stands tall
Winter progresses and snow descends
She talks to it as if they are good friends
She burrows under the blanket of snow
As if it could cover her, keep the warmth in her toes
She sings to the night, it makes her feel strong
Then she is silent as the birds pick up her song
She stretches her limbs to the open air
Each line on her skin is a story to tell
A faint trace of a heart, four initials as well
She stands tall and strong with her feet rooted down
Her arms shelter the children as they climb from the ground
As the autumn approaches her leaves start to fall
She shivers in cold, but she still stands tall
Winter progresses and snow descends
She talks to it as if they are good friends
She burrows under the blanket of snow
As if it could cover her, keep the warmth in her toes
She sings to the night, it makes her feel strong
Then she is silent as the birds pick up her song
