Do You Remember?

Do you remember?

When you were young
With a care free mind
And all the time in the world

When you would play for hours and hours
Your only goal to have fun
Because that was all that mattered

Do you remember?

When you call for your mommy in the middle night
Because you were scared
And needed you greatest friend

When you go to work with your daddy
And sit in his office for hours
Just glad to be with your father

Do you remember?

When you still knew how to dream
And would play pirate with all your friends
Because that's what you wanted to be when you grew up

When you would spend a whole day painting
And it didn't matter if it was good or bad
Because you just loved to create

Do you remember?

When you got up extra early on Saturday mornings
Just so you could watch those cheesy cartoons
And eat a huge bowl of sugary cereal

When you spend all your allowance at the local arcade
Because there's nothing like setting a new high score
On your favorite pinball machine

Do you remember?

When you would run at the park's playground
And fall and scrape your knees, but not care
Because that was just proof that you were a kid

When you play tag with your fellow classmates
And would always pick the best hiding spot
Making the game seem like it lasted a lifetime

Do you remember?

When you were told that you couldn't mess around forever
That you needed to get a career
And contribute to the adult world

When you were told it was time to grow up
That it was time to stop being a child
And that you need to face the real world

Do you remember when you told them no?
