Surreptitious Silhouettes

I miss your voice,
Your hand in mine,
Your perfect smile,
And the way our lives were entwined.

But it's just a ghost,
Merely a silhouette, nothing at all,
Displaced, beaten down,
Hidden surreptitiously behind a glass wall.

I miss that connection,
The one we had from the start.
And the feeling so familiar,
As you sped up my heart.

This is the secret I was supposed to hide;
But it's everything I want, all I feel inside.
I've always been good, with secrets that is,
But, you see this one was just too big.
You've got me down on my knees,
I'm begging you, Please!
I can't stay silent, and just keep this inside,
This is one secret I cannot hide.
