The Absent Vestige of Adoration

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I saw you pondering over what you have lost
And I,
Started booking all the life lines embossed

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I watched you pick up black glass
And I,
Rejoiced when you severed your skin at last

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I glanced as you picked up your things
And I,
Cursed upon your life and all that it brings

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I peered through your factual lies
And I,
Was disgusted by your decayed disguise

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I observed as you walked through that door
And I,
Whispered, “Darling, won’t you collapse onto the floor.”

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I viewed you as you screamed during the night
And I,
Wished you would simply die of fright

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I scouted as you drenched yourself in blood
And I,
Anticipated the influx of the inevitable flood

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I conspired against your heartless pleas
And I,
Laughed with pleasure as I watched you freeze

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I looked into your bright, desolate eyes
And I kissed you, my love
I thought, “This event is not a surprise.”
