Butterfly

I am like a caterpillar, insignificant and small
Even little things to me look tall
Like a caterpillar, I yearn to find my place in life
I long to live in a new world, free from any strife
I just feel so simple and plain,
About as unique as a drop of rain

Now I'm suffocating, trapped in my cocoon
I'll never again see the shining sun or the majestic moon
And just when I think I can take no more,
My prison breaks and I fall to the floor

But before I can hit the bottom, before I die,
I learn I have wings, learn I can fly
In a beautiful display of colors so bright,
I flourish my wings in the sun's gentle light
I spread my wings and soar away, reveling in the wonder of flight
