The Guidelines to Happiness

Every lie has its truth,
Every betrayal comes from trust,
Every question to our answer,
Is always found within us.

Take a physical comfort,
Keep it close to heart.
Don’t follow the light of darkness,
Don’t chase the words that scatter apart.

Seek the cure for all your troubles,
But you must find the root of sin.
Search for words that led to action,
So that you may feel just once again.

Look for the right path,
The easiest one is therefore mistaken.
Look for a better road,
The hardest is rarely ever taken.

Anger solves nothing,
But always ruins the puzzle.
Sadness gains no freedom,
But only welcomes more trouble.

You say that you have a need to fight,
You say that it will bring a new light,
But these feelings will only lengthen the wait,
Do not listen to your own hate.

You wear a mask of sorrow,
But I caught a glimpse of ivory.
You worry about tomorrow,
But I see that you’re right next to me.

You walk upon the thinnest ice,
You sit and wait for the winter to end,
But melting is a dangerous price,
So why not dance across, my friend?

Stay away from the harbor,
Don’t sail back to shore.
Linger within the wild waters,
Find your place among the waves.

Smile at your enemies,
Grin and catch their eye.
Walk the extra mile,
Offer love instead of trial.

Greet pain with a shake of the hand,
And welcome agony like an old friend.
Sing along to death’s rising sound,
Hold the hand that holds you down.

Remember your promises,
And look to the sky.
Forget about life,
You don’t need to try.

Have faith in something bigger,
Stronger than we can ever be.
A peace will overcome you,
And wisdom will choose to set you free.

Don’t think about the future,
Don’t reflect upon the past,
Keep your focus on the present,
And you will find happiness at last.
