Never Let Go

The nonexistant light strays far away
under the starlight her strings become frayed
the white flowing gown that she wears is torn
It dances in the breeze, as the moon hangs low and worn.
Her wings droop, broken and bloody
and she steps closer to the edge of what she wants to be destiny
the water below rolls smooth as silk
and she longs to find the end of the world.
Her memories lick and tease her
they try to make her see
the reason that she's doing this now
is to find the land of the free.
Tears of ice fall off her face
and shatter on the hard, solid ground
she leans in forward to find that place
undisturbed by hatefull sound.
a searing pain rides up her arm
like angry fire it burns,
a hand is wrapped around her wrist
its owner a young man, she learns.
His face is scared, as he holds her tight
unwilling to let go without a fight
as she dangles over her death beneath
he pulls her up, and into safety.
His hair is messy, and his clothes are ripped too
his wings are curled around the two
and he kisses her softly, his lovely wife
and he holds her so close, to shiled her from strife
he promises, like a rhythem low
Love, I will never let you go.
