Path of Destruction

The Path of Destruction.

I walked along the river bend,
going my own way.
I was about to cross the wooden-bridge,
when I heard a deep voice say..
"Meet me on the Path of Destruction,"
and then he turned and walked away.

I ran along the horizon,
I listened to the birds.
And suddenly I turned around,
because I heard the words,
"Meet me on the Path of Destruction."
I went away to Thirds

In the town of Thirds, I found someone,
to listen to my tales
He walked beside me through the crowds,
on the dirt-trod trails.
"Meet me on the Path of Destruction."
It whispered through the sails.

We traveled through the seven seas,
we stole, we drank, we ran
He whistled tales of love and regret
of a woman he called, Suzanne.
"Meet me on the Path of Destruction,
and leave me while you can"

But a good man he was,
so leave him I would not.
Before long a familiar voice,
came without a thought
"Meet me on the Path of Destruction"
it vanished within its plot.

We landed in a place, Bombay,
a happy dancing town.
But even then it followed us,
the voice that never drowned
"Meet me on the Path of Destruction."
It left with nary a sound.

Before long, my friend had left me
the voice gone to his head.
He always felt some ridicule
but the voice trailed him instead.
"Meet me on the Path of Destruction"
It dragged him off to bed.

The bed was made of nail and bones,
it was not made for living.
The man had met his lost beloved,
she did not like his singing.
"We travel on the Path of Destruction.."
her trailing voice was ringing.

So for those who want to tell the tale
of the two who found each other,
beware of the voice that follows the reader
the one that has no mother.
"Meet me on the Path of Destruction"
You'd better leave your lover.
