In the Corner

Emotions are for people who can handle the world
Because they see only what they were taught to see,
But what if you were never taught?
What if you were just released into the world without guidance by parents
Or by friends, or even by the teachers that say they’re available to help,
But they can’t be their when you’re in your room on your bed
Starring at all the emotions you keep in the corner
And you see them every day and you think about letting someone see them
Maybe your parents, but they wouldn’t care.

But you’d never let yourself see them because when you do
They will overpower all the reasoning you have and someone might see what you’re really like
But that’s what everyone preaches about, but do they put their soul out for people to see?
Does Oprah broadcast her problems on her TV about her husband?
If she does it’s nothing like how my mom complains about my father,
Or about how we don’t have money, food, clothes, gas, a life.
Even if I were to take out the “good” emotions like happiness
It still could harm me in ways the others couldn’t, I would want to feel blissful all the time
Even though I know it’s impossible I would still wish, like I once did,
Before I put my emotions in the corner.
