The River

I live close to the flowing waters,
Of the lonely river,
I stare far into the crystal stream,
Of that little river,
I know that it may be hard to seem,
Just like a normal stranger

This river's got a talent for running,
But it can never stand still in time,
This river's got a talent for running,
But it could never walk at all,
Never slow down to see the rhythm and rhyme

My river has a head,
But it couldn't think any thoughts,
The river had a head,
But it can never learn to wonder over anything,
Besides the flow as it comes alive and dead

This river has a great big mouth,
But it has never shown any teeth,
Nor had the water ever been forced to eat,
This river has a lovely mouth,
But it cannot ever learn to speak its wishes,
Or will never be able to give midnight kisses

Although the river owns a bed,
It can never sleep beside the rocks,
And even though the river has a bed,
It will never rest along the shore,
Or see the day when it doesn't have to listen anymore

This river has a lot of things,
But most are never used like ours,
My special river was created with many things,
But it will never have the free will to escape the rule of the stars

I live close to the flowing waters,
Of the lonely river,
I stare far into the crystal stream,
Of that little river,
I know that it may be hard to seem,
Just like a normal stranger
