Nighttime Unwinds

Memories charge my mind
Cobwebs of a better time
The edges dulled down
To a lighter, softer sound
I’m reliving everything
Up to that horrid ending
Those late summer eves
Verdant occupying the leaves

I listen to the music that reminds me
Of the pleasant nighttime unwinds
The music that heaves me into
Far, far better times and lines

I know it sounds so cliché
To say I miss those summer nights
Well I miss those summer nights
I will, forever and a day

Images are conjured
By simple little flags
The smell of the after-rain
That tone of your voice
If I only ignore the ending
Then this means everything
But the black cloud hanging over
Dispels any positive feeling

I listen to the music that reminds me
Of the pleasant nighttime unwinds
The music that heaves me into
Far, far better times and lines

I know it sounds so cliché
To say I miss those summer nights
Well I miss those summer nights
I will, forever and a day

But then nightmare sets in
The last night pollutes my mind
Nostalgia is wholly infected
To that of a kind pain-lined

I listen to the music that reminds me
Of the pleasant nighttime unwinds
The music that heaves me into
Far, far better times and lines

I know it sounds so cliché
To say I miss those summer nights
Well I miss those summer nights
I will, forever and a day
