Smile and Wave

You smile and wave.
You refuse to be brave.
The hard part is over,
The easy part is closer.
This shouldn’t take this long,
And I’ve waited too long.
I’m done waiting for you,
It’s the last thing I want to do.
I’m sick of waiting around,
Just take the needed bound.
It’s always been your choice,
And I still haven’t heard your voice.
Maybe I haven’t been clear,
And now you look like a deer,
Stranded in the headlight.
You smile and wave every night,
But you’ll never proclaim that word,
So I’ll have to keep my thoughts turned
Away from you and your smile,
That intriguing, simple, shy smile.
I’ll have to ignore that friendly hand
And continue to just stand my ground.
