Mother Nature

Cold wind threatens autumn’s gold
she is not old
outside the window, a world grows vague
I saw my youth in our old back lane

Fall fell
leaves under feet
a smile back then
shows a gap in my teeth

Snow arrives
you light up a smoke
I’ve always admired
that vintage fur coat

Greener on our side
bitterness dying
the rain in this Spring
it’s God’s way of crying

In time that I’ve known
your birthday marks Summer
for a lifetime of seasons
it’s been you and me, Mother

Soaring through night
you arrive at the gate
the doctors surrounding
tell me it’s too late

Here appears vast
my world regrets reason
now only memory
knows every season

My eyes still close big
they have been weeping
a quick spiral down;
a state of sleeping

When I arrive
the season is new
I know right away
I am closer to you

Upon meeting we walk
through winter’s glisten
this world shows variety
you talk and I listen

To feel you this near
is marvelous; strange
it is only in dreams
that the seasons still change.
