She Waited

This is the story of a girl that had it all
She had the looks, she had the brains, she had the boys
She had the money and the friends that all should envy
She had it all, so why the fuck wasn’t she happy?

And never did she wake up with a smile
Nor was she ever content with her life
And it all seemed pretty bad, although she loved all that she had
Something was just missing and it couldn’t be ignored

He was there
And he was not
He was in
And he was out
When he wanted, she gave him
When he didn’t, she waited

And every time made the situation even worse
She couldn’t take the pain of his harsh words
But all the same she kept pretending that everything was okay
When she knew that all of this couldn’t possibly end well

Finally as expected, it all blew up in her face
And she broke down and fell apart till there was nothing of her left
She couldn’t wrap her mind around the facts she had discovered
He hated her, was sick of her, and wanted to wipe her off the earth

A day later, they both pretended everything was cool
She pretended not to know, cause he was still hiding the truth
He assured her they were fine every single time she asked
She was scared to hope that time would eventually make things right

And he was there
And he was not
He was in
And he was out
When he wanted, she gave him
When he didn’t, she waited
And waited
And waited
And waited

And just in case you’re wondering, yes, this story has a point
Don’t ever give up, even if it looks like a lost cause
You might seem to have it all, you might look lucky on the outside
But nothing is enough as long as you’re not really happy
