Triple Rainbow

I saw a triple rainbow
And it took my breath away;
I couldn’t fight the smile that spread wide,
Making my cheeks ache.
I laughed and told anyone I could find,
Pointed, pleaded,
Made them just look.
It made my heart flutter
To see them basking in my discovery;
The excitement spread,
The beauty’s grip stronger
Than any pain that held them down.
And I found myself staring at the sky,
At the arc of many colors,
Wondering how something so simple
Could make a person smile so shamelessly,
How it could make the pain vanish from their eyes –
If only a moment.
I saw a triple rainbow
And it took my breath away.
