A Knight of Dreams
AUTHOR'S NOTE: I wrote this to go along side another story I am currently working on called A Knight of Dreams. (Yes the title IS a pun) It's about a boy who has always dreamed other people's nightmares. Eventually an old man comes upon the boy (he's actually the sandman) and dreamwalks through his head scaring the nightmares away and leaving only light. The boy then has only pleasant dreams after that. This is where my poem ends, but my story continues whit the boy learnign to dreamwalk through other people's minds while they sleap eventually becomein the next sandman as well as a Knight of dreams)

There once was a boy who dreamt nightmares
Every night in his bed
The only thing about the scares
Is that they were from another’s head.
He never had nightmares of his own,
But instead other people’s dreams.
He always felt scared and quite very alone
His only comfort, the bright moonbeams.
One night brought a man clad in thick clothes
Of cotton and dragon skinned seams
Who told the boy of a temporary fix
To his nightmarish near hellish dreams.
He reached in his bag and drew a great hand
Full of stardust and light
“This will cure you,” He said as he fanned
the sand on the boy’s eyes that night.
The old man joined him in his dreary dreams
Guiding the boy through his mind
“You never can tell what you can know
Unless its someone else’s find.
Relax now, child, I’ll tarry a while
And make all the mosters take leave.
For dreamwalking scares those in the night
All you must do is believe.
All night long the man walked about
Causing light to gather and shine.
He captured the beasts angry and stout
With ropes made of stardust and twine.
The boy soon slept easy in his little wood bed
His head hugged by a pillow of fluff
Never again did he have those bad dreams
Because enough was enough
Silently the boy wandered though evergreen trees
And gently flowing rivers and streams
He only had thoughts of his own magic world
And finally dreamed his very own dreams.
