Blood-Drenched Skies

I want to fly up really high,
through clear, not through blood-drenched skies,
across valleys and over the plains,
to desperately escape all the pain,
to escape the people who hurt me,
who bored their hate into my soul.

I come from darkness,
donned in sin and pinned in hate,
but I escaped, I am free,
and now I can truly see,
a world of eternal beauty,
it catches my forever eye.

I whisper a silent goodbye,
too all the hate I’ve known so long,
as I fly through clear blue sky,
to a place no one will ever lie,
somewhere where I will not die,
from crushing weights and secrets told,
so I can be free, forever more.
