I am from...

I am from small cramped apartment
From music loving of all kinds and
Saturday morning cartoons
I am from fun barbeques at grandma’s house.
I am from the huge grassy backyards and the soft dewy grass.
I am from carving pumpkins and roasting the seeds and happiness of my dad and my mom and older sister.
I am from the secrets behind my back and hiding habits.
From “Moon tiara action.”
And “I am Sailor Moon, champion of justice!”
I am from Mennonite churches across the street.
I am from generations before me,
Corn pudding and chicken salad.
From the Easter bunny making me cry, to the warm memories at the beach and the cold nights out in the pavilion.
The parties at grandma’s
And the cold water soaking through my clothes
As I sit in the flooded paddle boat.
I am from mom’s cat allergies, small birthday parties
And watching Sailor Moon on Tunami,
Listening to Bob Marley and playing with the albino snake we call snapper.
I am from small cramped apartment.
