Exhibit A

Tell me you're listening at this moment in time
My Prosecution and Defense will never stop
You're hidden behind a disguise, prepare to meet your demise
Then again, be ready for some sort of intervention.

The former thinks logically, states all the facts
Almost omniscient, confident in decision
The latter in intermission, takes the other decision
A plethora of emotion dominates and controls.

The heart and the head are always at battle
Logic versus reason, emotion versus fact
In this case, say goodbye, and in their place
Spontaneity may clumsily stumble in.

Your clever veneer will no longer stay
In front of the jury, you will plead guilty
To betrayal of trust, no love, if you must
State the truth, you deceptive mortal.

Your defense is good, you have prepared well.
You deny everything, but that will only take you so far
And thus if I may, I present: Exhibit A
The shattered remnants of this broken heart.

You gulp and swallow - your eyes drop
In front of the jury, your confidence sinks
But my own Defense, seeing your slipping pretense,
Yearns for me to stop while this is still small.

My own Prosecution begs me to continue
I obey and listen, and thus I present:
Exhibit B, personal items of "Fee",
Sophia Parkson, that is, found at your house.

The jury sits puzzled, are you sure it's Sophia?
Dear people of the court, 'tis his ex
I ask the question: why are the items mentioned
Found in the house of my current boyfriend?

I call Sophia to the stand! She's shaking and worrying
She averts her eyes, and my Defense acts up
Begging me to desist, and for a minute, I slip
Even in the occurrence, love never disappears

But out of the feeling, I strongly continue
Love turned hate with the memory of his actions
I question dear "Fee"; she shivers and she pleads
For mercy, since she knows - I already know.

She confesses everything, the jury is in shock
I stand there, my Defense giving up
My Prosecution does not mourn, I look to her with scorn
Jury stares at the sinners, not believing what they see

My former boyfriend admits to everything
My mother looks at them both, eyes with tears
"How could you do this, to your sister, dear Liz?
Sleeping with your ex, her boyfriend, for a month?!"

May the remnants of this broken heart be put to rest.
As to those souls who broke it in the first place.
