Dreamer

Standing on clouds, watching stars pass by. My mind is completely gone. Stuck in my fantasies and dreams I’m snapped out by the harsh whips of reality.

“That imagination of yours isn’t going to get you anywhere unless you learn to balance reality.” Says the world. Ignoring the statement I continue my responsibilities in the bleak realm of reality.

Deep in thought I contemplate the words; That imagination of yours isn’t going to get you anywhere unless you learn to balance reality Though I have learned to not listen to what the world says, I can’t help but let the words sink in. I stare up to the clouds and stars again. I can see every dream like a movie projecting around me. I see greatness. I see success. I see places I’d never think I could go.

The world gets angry and replaces my dreams with my past and the lowest points of my life. The memories sting and replace my determination with aches. All the anger I’ve tried to delude starts to turn acidic and consume my cloud nine. The bright stars turn dark and gloomy. My heart starts to harden and feel cold.

Then the words of another echoes and says to me; You will pass through deep waters. But I will be with you. They will not sweep over you. You will walk through fire. But you will not be burned. The flames will not harm you. Stars, little by little begin to light.

“Why don’t you give up? You’re just a dreamer.” The world criticizes. I straighten my stance and say with my head up high;

“A dreamer I may be…but at least you have a guarantee that I will achieve those dreams. When you say no and the odds are against me…No matter what it looks like now and everyone says I can’t…I say yes I can.”

With that said, the acid turns to dust and blows away. The stars light up brighter than they ever were. The world’s anger-filled words fade away. My heart thaws and allows a smile to cross my face. Then all my dreams projected start to form together and form my ultimate dream in front of me. I reach for it but can’t feel it. It begins to move away from me and go higher towards the stars. Smaller stars fly past me and create a gate in front of me. The clouds come together too and make a long path leading to my projected dream. Intimidated by the long journey, a wind blows and whispers encouraging words in my ear;

“A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world.” ((-Oscar Wilde))

With one last look back to where the world lays waiting like a shark for me to fall in it’s depths, I leave all my burdens behind and past through the gates leading to my destiny. From here on I start a new and let my promised dream lead me.
