The City

The city moves and never sleeps
I'd say the city has insomnia
The city's stressed but never weeps
Moving hurriedly from cold winter to scented summer
My city is beautiful
Have you seen the lights?
Up in the sky, so bright at night.
My city is sad
Have you heard the screams?
Of a million, looking for their dreams.
The city is harsh and unforgving
But I love it just the same
It's a small reminder that you're living
That maybe you won't be a forgotten name.
Follow the city and she'll do you good
But don't ever forget the fact
Turn your back on her like you never should
She'll curse you until you crack.
