I'm a girl who was never really a kid,
I was forced to grow up long ago when I should have been young,
Instead of playing with dolls I'd look for a gun,
I forgot how to smile and realized what I had become.
In place of playing with friends and being high-strung,
I lit up a cigarette and felt the burn in my lungs,
I'd look for trouble and became a rebel,
I sat in my room and lived in a nutshell.
But ever since I've been with you these things have been washed away,
I get a little bit of the real me back day by day.
