Remember

Do you remember?
The screaming, crying
And long nights?

The tears that line
The faces, the sinking
Feeling that was
Felt by so many
Lost young souls
Just trying
Trying so hard to fit in?

Tears that made
Damp spots on
Pillows by those
That threw themselves
On their beds in fear,
Anguish, sorrow and anger.

Do you realize, notice
The dread felt in the morning
When one had to get ready for school?

I do. . . It happened to me
I was one of the ones filled with dread
Fear. anguish, and sorrow.

Now, I hold my head high
And learn to laugh about the past
I don't, won't let my grief show.
I am stronger than they thought.

So please, don't feel sympathy,
Just believe in a change
for the better
