A Soulmate That Lasts

It was not something in her life she planned
It was not something she asked for
She didn't know how she would tell him
When he walked through her door
She became so weak from Chemo
She wouldn't let him touch her hair
She just told him the news
He stayed with her because of how much he cares
She's happy, no, estatic
To see him at her side
He holds her hand and looks at her
"Well fight this cancer together," they decide
She made her weekly visit to the doctor
He came with her, like he always had
The doctor studied the resuts
Her fiancee asked "Is it bad?"
The doctor sadly nodded
Silence filled the air
She finally broke the silence and smiled
"I'll fight this twice as hard, because I know you still care"
Weeks flew by, and they made them the best
But she wasn't feeling good
She's at her last trip to the doctor's
And beside her bed her fiancee stood
She touched his hand and he looked at her when she said
"I love you so much, you made my last months great."
She laid back on her bed and sighed
"But it's time I accept my fate."
She passed on an hour after
Her last conversation with her true love
He knows she's his angel,
Watching from above
He never moved on from her
He didn't have the heart
There was no other girl
as beautiful or smart
He holds her ring inside his hand
Her life went by too fast
But he will always remember her
